Last spring, students in Lázaro Cárdenas started dropping out of school at an unprecedented rate. Spurred by the immense challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic, even the most motivated students were getting frustrated, felt a lack of a support system, and reached their breaking point.
In response to this education crisis, Hands Offering Hope stood in the gap—creating a new program for students to access academic support and tutoring in order to help them stay in school and complete their educations.
After a successful pilot, Operation Graduate is back for the 2022-2023 school year, ensuring that 70 students in Lázaro Cárdenas have access to the academic support they need.
